About
Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) capacity of Community Forestry User Groups (CFUGs) is a pilot project under TAYAR/Nepal- Improved Disaster Risk Management Project funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by DAI Global LLC (DAI). The project aims to pilot the integration and mainstreaming of DRRM and CCA into CFUGs through which further policy implication and planning could be expanded. This project will also focus on awareness raising and capacity building of both CFUGs, local governments and local stakeholders. Furthermore, the project will advocate to create new avenue in policy formulation of Disaster and Climate Risk Management Guideline targeting CFUGs based on learning of pilot projectwhich will be scaled out across the country.
Objectives
The overall objective of the project is “to institutionalize the DRRM and CCA plans at local level planning process”. The specific objectives of the proposed project are:
To integrate DRRM and CCA plans in local planning process
To implement integrated DRRM and CCA plans at CFUGs and local level
Outcomes
This project will train at least 165 people in DRR and CCA
25 local resource persons with in-depth knowledge in integrating and mainstreaming DRR and CCA will be mobilized
One guideline on DRR and CCA integration and Twenty DRR and CCA integrated plan at community level will be prepared.
Three interventions will be implemented by collaborating with different stakeholders at district/municipal FECOFUN chapters to train and capacitate more than 400 people on DRRM and CCA, document best practices, processes, learnings and challenges to adopt the whole mechanism my FECOFUN to replicate and scale up.

Geographical Coverage
This is a pilot project which is implemented in two municipality and one rural municipalities as Lamkichuwa Municipality, Kailali, Sudhurpachim province, Dullu Municipality, Dailekh, and Tila Rural Municipality, Jumla, Karnali Province.
